Planning a branding photoshoot can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. Whether you’re a solo entrepreneur, small team, or growing business, great branding images start with smart planning. In this post, we’re breaking down exactly how to prep for your shoot so your space, outfits, and energy are aligned with your brand so that your photographer can do their best work.
Before you pick outfits or clean your desk, zoom out. What story are you trying to tell? Do you want to look polished and corporate, relaxed and creative, or somewhere in between? Think about where these photos will live such as your website, LinkedIn, marketing materials, and how you want clients to feel when they see them. Share your brand mood, colors, and inspiration with your photographer so you’re aligned before shoot day.
You don’t need a dream office to get great photos–but you do need a tidy one. We know it’s tempting to stress about your location, but outdated office furniture often looks totally fine on camera. What doesn’t photograph well? Piles of paper, sticky notes, tangled cords, or half-eaten snacks in the background. If we’re shooting you at your desk, just clear clutter, tuck trash bins away, and wipe down surfaces. That alone makes a big impact.
Bring 2–3 outfits that represent different sides of your brand, such as casual, business casual, and dressed-up options. Stick to brand colors and avoid busy patterns or large logos. Think ahead about props that help tell your story too: a laptop, coffee mug, client materials, or tools of your trade. The goal is to look like you on your best day, not a version of yourself that only exists in photos.
